CHRIST THE KING

I didn't really understand the Church's feast day CHRIST THE KING, so I looked it up and found some things out: The Feast of CHRIST THE KING was started in 1925 (pretty recent) by Pope Pius XI at the time because people in the world were depending on INDIVIDUALISM- being rulers of themselves and against kings. They thought kings were oppressive at the time. True, some kings were bad, but Jesus was a king of HUMILITY and MERCY. He came to show that he was a king willing to GIVE HIS LIFE to save us. That was COMPLETELY OPPOSITE of kings then. So, when we celebrate this Sunday before Advent, let's think about how our King Jesus came to SAVE us and not to OPPRESS us.
